West Bromwich Albion ace Craig Dawson is ready to hand in a transfer request amid mounting interest from the Premier League, according to The Mirror.

Dawson is attracting interest from Burnley and a move back to the Premier League has turned his head.

Rather than stay with the Baggies in the Championship, the 28-year-old wants to force a move back to the top flight to continue playing at the highest level and he is prepared to submit a transfer request to get this deal done.

West Ham United are also keen on the versatile defender - who plays as a central defender or as a right-back - and they have seen a £12m bid rebuffed.

It is believed that the West Midlands outfit are holding out for £20m to avoid losing a key man on the cheap.

Burnley, who also want striker Jay Rodriguez from West Brom, are eyeing Dawson to strengthen their defensive options ahead of a Europa League campaign.

The former England youth international was a standout performer for West Brom last season despite their relegation.

The Verdict

Dawson would be a very good squad option for Burnley or West Ham at the right price.

Obviously, West Brom do not want to lose someone who provides such solidity and versatility to their defensive ranks so they will try to resist offers.

But if he is unsettled and trying to actively leave the club, the Baggies should just cash in and reinvest that money in a replacement.
