West Bromwich Albion have confirmed that young defender Jack Fitzwater has signed a new deal.

Fitzwater puts pen to paper on a new and improved two-year deal which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2020.

Last season, the 20-year-old had two loan spells away from the club, impressing in both League Two for Forest Green Rovers and then again in League One for Walsall later in the season.

Fitzwater represented Forest Green on 19 occasions in all competitions last term, scoring one goal, while he netted three times for Walsall in 15 games after January.

Prior to last season, the young centre-half had spent time out on loan at Chesterfield and non-league Hednesford Town.

Although Fitzwater is yet to make his first-team debut, he is eyeing a spot in the senior squad for their upcoming Championship campaign, especially after Jonny Evans left to join Leicester City and centre-back duo Craig Dawson and Ahmed Hegazi are linked with exits.
