West Brom have moved to complete the signing of Rotherham United man Semi Ajayi, with the defender penning a four-year deal at the Hawthorns.

Confirmed by the club's offiicial website, Ajayi has moved to the Hawthorns for an undisclosed fee following Rotherham's relegation, and will go straight into the plans of Slaven Bilic as he looks to get Albion back to the Premier League.

The big defender, who can also slot into the middle of the park if needed, was one of the standout performers for the Millers last term, popping up with some crucial goals and big performances despite being unable to stop them going down.

However, he has now swapped South Yorkshire for the Midlands, and he will hope to carry the form he showed at the New York Stadium into his new club.

Ajayi moved to Rotherham from Cardiff City having previously had spells with the likes of Arsenal and Charlton Athletic. He is a full international for Nigeria too, and will hope to bring that international experience into an Albion squad already rich with quality.

The 25-year-old becomes the third signing made by Bilic since he took over the reins at the Hawthorns, following the capture of Croatian midfielder Filip Krovinovic and striker Kenneth Zohore.

The Verdict

This is a massively astute move by Albion and Bilic, and they are getting themselves a player who can pretty much do it all in a defensive sense.

Strong, powerful and quick, as well as being able to slot into numerous positions, Ajayi should make the move up in class with no problem whatsoever.

If Bilic can get the best out of Ajayi and keep on improving him, then the Baggies will have a colossus on their hands for years to come.
