Speaking to the Express and Star, West Brom's Head of Performance Nick Davies has given a promising update over the fitness of the Albion squad, and an insight into how the players are keeping sharp as we wait for the season to resume once more.

The Baggies have had a top season in the Championship this year and are certainly one of the sides that will be wanting the campaign to be resumed, so they can look to finish the job of getting promoted back into the Premier League.

Indeed, it would be very harsh to cancel the season on the likes of Albion, but they remain focused on working to a resumption and it seems as though they're in decent shape.

Do you know what year these players joined Albion?

Davies said:

“This is a unique time which needs to be considered and carefully managed as we will need to be ready when we do return.

“The games period on return is likely to be incredibly intense. With this in mind, we need to keep the players ‘football-fit’ to hit the ground running.

“Planning for an unknown start date is complex but we must ensure we maintain a robust group of players. We are leaving no stone unturned as we strive to balance freshening the squad up physically and mentally while maintaining a readiness to perform.”

The Verdict

It must be tough for those in the game that do the role of Davies as they are having to work to a pretty unspecified schedule.

It's a real science to ensure the players are at their best at the most important moments of the campaign so to have a structure taken away from them makes their task unbelievably tough.

However, it sounds as though Albion are on top of things at the moment and they'll be looking forward to getting their players back into training and matches as soon as possible.
