West Bromwich Albion are close to securing their first summer signing, with the Baggies close to agreeing a deal for Bobby Reid.

According to the Mirror’s live transfer blog (11/06, 10:27), West Brom are in advanced discussions with Bristol City over Reid and a deal could be done by the end of the week.

Darren Moore is putting plans in place for West Brom’s return to the Sky Bet Championship, with the Baggies close to agreeing a fee with Bristol City for Reid’s service.

Last season the 25-year-old was magnificent in the Championship for the Robins, helping Lee Johnson’s side to 11th in the league and also the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Reid bagged 21 goals in 52 appearances for the Robins last season, also chipping in with seven further assists in his new striking role.

However, his contract at Ashton Gate is running down, with Reid available to leave for free next summer.

No new deal is on the horizon, which looks set to lead to Reid’s exit this summer.

West Brom are now in pole position to land the striker’s signature.

The Verdict

Bristol City find themselves in a difficult decision due to Reid’s contract, with a move this summer beginning to look inevitable.

For West Brom, they’re getting hold of a player who really impressed in the Championship last season.

It will be a challenge for Reid to repeat last season’s form, but the 25-year-old will be up for the challenge.

If he can rediscover his best form, Reid will be an excellent addition at the Hawthorns.
