West Brom are close to agreeing a deal to appoint for West Ham boss, Slaven Bilic as their new manager ahead of next season according to Sky Sports News.

Bilic and West Brom had been some way apart in negotiations over his salary, but it is now claimed that the two parties have come to an agreement.

James Shan was in charge of the Baggies for the second-half of last season, after the surprise sacking of Darren Moore.

West Brom were unlucky not to be one game away from the Premier League as well, as they were beaten by Aston Villa in their play-off semi-final on penalties.

But it's set to be an interesting season ahead for the Baggies, and if Bilic is to be in the dugout, then you have to feel as though they'll be one of the favourites to win promotion back into the Premier League.

It'll be interesting to see what signings are made over the summer, as it seems unlikely that Bilic would have taken the job without being assured of having transfer funds available to him.

This will be Bilic's first job back in football since he was sacked as West Ham manager back in 2017, and he'll be hoping to hit the ground running when he does make his timely return.

But he'll be hoping to keep hold of some key players in the West Brom squad if he is to be appointed, with the likes of Jay Rodriguez being linked with a summer departure with Sheffield United and Leicester City interested in signing him according to The Star.

The Verdict:

What a brilliant appointment this is.

Bilic is an experienced manager, who should really be managing at a higher level if I'm honest.

It's a real coup for West Brom if they can finalise this deal, and I think with him in charge at the Hawthorns next season, you have to feel that the Baggies will be challenging for promotion.
