West Bromwich Albion have had an undisclosed bid for Yeovil Town defender Tom James accepted by the League Two club.
Yeovil's official website has confirmed that the club have accepted a bid which would make this a club record sale for a defender.
Football Insider believes the fee to be in the region of £400,000.
James will now undergo a medical and negotiate personal terms before completing his switch to West Brom.
The 22-year-old joined Yeovil in January 2017 on a free transfer after he negotiated for his contract with Cardiff City to be cancelled.
Initially penning a short-term deal, James quickly established himself as a regular in the side and made 51 appearances for the Glovers in the 2017/18 season.
This caught the attention of a number of admirers, with Swansea City also in the hunt for the centre-half.
But West Brom appear to have won the race for the former Wales under-19 international after their bid was accepted.
The Verdict
James is a promising young defender who will be hungry to succeed at a higher level.
With age still on his side, he is likely to start as a back-up choice before pushing the likes of Kyle Bartley and Ahmed Hegazi for a starting spot.
At this price, it could be a shrewd long-term move for the Baggies.
