West Bromwich Albion are still looking to bring Romaine Sawyers and Ryan Woods on board this summer ahead of their return to the Sky Bet Championship.

Darren Moore is desperately trying to reshape his squad at the Hawthorns this summer, with Sawyers and Woods remaining on his radar, according to a report in the Birmingham Mail.

The Brentford duo have been impressive at Griffin Park in recent years, and last year helped the Bees finish ninth in the Championship table under Dean Smith.

Sawyers, 26, made 42 Championship appearances last season, returning four goals and four assists.

His teammate, 24-year-old Woods, made 39 appearances in central midfield, further enhancing his reputation as one of the Championship’s most impressive midfielders.

Moore is keen to get that duo on board at West Brom this summer, after missing out on two targets from Bristol City.

Aden Flint has completed a move to Middlesbrough in the last 24 hours, despite West Brom’s interest.

Whilst Bobby Reid was another target, who looks set for a move elsewhere.

Reports are suggesting that Reid, who scored 19 Championship goals last season, is on the verge of joining Cardiff City in the Premier League.

The Verdict

It hasn’t been an easy start to the summer for West Brom, with still plenty to do ahead of their Championship return.

Bringing Sawyers and Woods on board would be a major statement, as that duo have really impressed at Brentford recently.

Of course, missing out on other targets is a blow, but Moore still has plenty of time to have a positive impact in the transfer window.
