With West Brom looking to strengthen their side this summer in a bid to push on for promotion during the next campaign, the club are bound to want to offload some of their surplus players.

One name that has been linked with the exit door is Callum Robinson, with the forward a target for Preston according to numerous reports. The player though remains a Baggies player as things stand - and, speaking to Birmingham Live, it looks like it'll stay that way for now.

With the player now down the pecking order at the Hawthorns, there is a chance that he could be sold on this window. Daryl Dike will be a main striker for the club this season and they've also added Jed Wallace and John Swift who can bag goals and Karlan Grant and Kenneth Zohore also still feature for the side.

It means Robinson might need to leave the club to get more gametime - and Preston has seemed like an option for the 27-year-old so far this transfer window.

However, speaking to Birmingham Live over a potential transfer deal, Steve Bruce has once again reiterated that there is no deal in place to let the player leave. He claimed: "I’ve read all this and seen all this, and I’ve heard nothing.

"As far as I’m concerned, I’m sure he’s got many suitors out there, but as I’ve said - we’ve all got players we’d like to bring in, but if you can’t do it, you can’t do it."

Robinson scored a total of seven goals and even bagged nine assists in 26 starts for the side last time out and it led to a solid average for the player of 0.60 goals or assists per 90. Even in spite of that record though, it looks like he won't be considered in the Baggies first-team fold this season and could leave the side this window.

For now, the player is a West Brom player though and there is no deal it seems for the 27-year-old to leave this transfer window.

The Verdict

West Brom boss Steve Bruce might not have plans to use Callum Robinson in the first-team much next season but there isn't a deal for the player to leave the club yet this window.

With the Baggies, they used him often enough in the last campaign and he did produce the goods with 16 goal contributions but clearly the club's new boss doesn't see much room for him. With other strikers likely to feature ahead of him, a deal could happen this window.

If the player was to sign with Preston, it would be a superb move for the Lilywhites again. They need another option upfront and considering that the 27-year-old is in the peak of his career and is confident at producing the goods in the Championship, he could what the Lilywhites need.

Right now, the player remains at the Hawthorns and there doesn't appear to be a deal on the table though this offseason.
