West Bromwich Albion head coach Slaven Bilic has been very impressed with the impact that Romaine Sawyers has made this season, but has admitted that he will never be completely happy with his performances.

Sawyers joined West Brom from Brentford in the summer for a reported fee of £2.9million and has been one of the standout players for the Baggies this season.

The 28-year-old has been an ever-present for Albion in the Championship this term and has played an instrumental role in ensuring the Baggies currently sit two points clear at the top of the table.

Bilic has been very impressed with the impact that Sawyers has made this season and has admitted that the club did everything they could to sign him from Brentford in the summer.

However, talking to the Express & Star, Bilic also admitted that he still wants the player to improve and that he will never be completely satisfied with him.

“He’s a top player. The way he passes the ball, the way he kills the opponent, the way he dictates the game. He’s a brilliant player and that’s why we wanted him to come home and play for us – we did everything we could to bring him in from Brentford.

“He’s different class and one of the biggest reasons why we’re playing so good. But he can do much better. I’m never going to be happy with him.”

The Verdict

Sawyers has been excellent for West Brom this season. He's been one of the best and possibly most underrated passers in the Championship over the past few years in my opinion.

He's very good on the ball, reads the game extremely well and makes things happen. He's already turning out to be a superb signing for West Brom and possibly one of the bargains of the summer transfer window too.

Bilic is clearly very impressed with the impact that Sawyers has made so far and clearly understands how important the midfielder is to the way his side play, but he obviously also feels that he has the potential to get even better.
