West Brom are hoping that Derby's need to raise cash will give them an advantage in the race for Bristol City's Bobby Reid.

The Robins forward was one of the outstanding players in the Championship last season having been moved further up the pitch by Lee Johnson.

It suited the 25-year old, who responded by scoring 19 goals in the Championship and playing a key role in their superb Carabao Cup run that involved beating Manchester United.

And, that has prompted interest from several clubs, with the Baggies reportedly bidding £7m for the player earlier in the month. That offer hasn't been accepted but the interest remains.

However, Derby are also keen on the player but journalist Alan Nixon explained how Albion are still in the driving seat for Reid.

The Rams will have to raise cash by selling top scorer Matej Vydra to fund a move for Reid, with Leeds chasing the Czech forward.

Yet, until that happens they won't be in a position to move for the Bristol City man, meaning West Brom are favourites to land the forward.

The Verdict

Reid has proven himself to be a top quality player at this level and it's easy to see why West Brom and Derby are interested in him.

Given his quality he will also command a big fee so it's understandable that Derby need to sell-to-buy but West Brom should surely be trying to take advantage of that.

They should be looking to close a deal quickly as he would be a great addition for them.
