West Brom, Stoke City and Swansea City are all interested in versatile Leicester man Daniel Amartey.

The 23-year old, who can play in defence or midfield, struggled to cement a place in the Foxes team last season, making only 15 appearances, although he did suffer with a hamstring injury for the final two months.

Therefore, the three Championship clubs, who were all recently relegated, are keen on bringing the Ghana international to the second-tier, according to Football Insider.

However, the report does state that whilst Amartey may be open to leaving the East Midlands side if he won’t get first-team football, he could take some convincing to drop down a division.

He joined Leicester from Copenhagen in January 2016 for around £6m, which was the year that they remarkably won the league, although Amartey only featured five times in the run-in. Yet, he has impressed with his pace, power and defensive instincts.

All three Championship clubs are keen on strengthening their squads ahead of the new season which begins on August 3.

The Verdict

This would be a great signing for any Championship side and it’s an ambitious move by all three to try and land the player.

Amartey has clear qualities and whilst he’s only a squad player for Leicester he could be a real star in the second-tier.

Now, it’s down to the clubs to agree a fee with the Foxes and then convince the player to join which could be tough.
