West Brom and Nottingham Forest are ready to rival Bristol City in the race to land Burnley's Matej Vydra before Friday's transfer deadline.

Albion, who currently lead the way in the Championship, and Forest, who occupy a play-off place, have both made it clear that they want to add a new forward to their ranks this month.

And, Bristol Live have revealed that the two Midlands outfits have joined the Robins in looking to secure a deal for the Czech international.

Vydra has made just six league appearances for Burnley this season, all of which came from the bench and the report claims he is finding his situation at Turf Moor frustrating.

With the 27-year-old hoping to represent his country in Euro 2020 this summer, he knows a move may be needed to ensure he is on the plane and he should get regular minutes in the Championship.

A switch to Albion would be his second stint at The Hawthorns after he endured a forgettable season with the club back in 2013/14 when they were in the top-flight.

Meanwhile, he is a player that Forest fans will know very well having starred for bitter rivals Derby County over the years.

The verdict

Vydra has shown over the years that he pretty much guarantees goals at this level, so it's no surprise to see these three clubs are interested.

It seems with his international ambitions that the next six months will all be about playing week in, week out and West Brom may be his best bet in that sense as Lewis Grabban will take some shifting from the Forest XI, although Lamouchi could play the two together.

Either way, he will want assurances from the manager and that could ultimately be how his future is decided.

What you can say, is that whoever does end up with Vydra in the next few days will have boosted their chances of playing in the Premier League next season considerably.
