Reading FC face a battle to hold onto key man Ali Al Habsi this summer, according to The Daily Mail.

A number of clubs are lining up a swoop for the veteran goalkeeper, who was a standout performer for the Royals in their promotion bid last season.

Al Habsi proved to be one of the finest goalkeepers in the division with a string of good displays for Reading.

This was recognised as he was crowned Reading's Player of the Year.

His form significantly contributed to Reading's defensive solidity and he almost helped Jaap Stam's side to win promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs.

However, Reading were defeated by Huddersfield in the final at Wembley on penalties and could now lose Al Habsi.

The Omani international, who has 118 caps to his name, is wanted by a quartet of clubs from Saudi Arabia as well as a Premier League duo.

Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal and Al-Batin will all compete for Al Habsi's signature this summer.

With foreign players now allowed to play in the Saudi Arabian leagues, these teams are very keen to bring in players of Al Habsi's calibre.

West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City are also interested in the experienced stopper.

West Brom want Al Habsi as cover for Ben Foster while Leicester see him as the perfect back-up for Kasper Schmeichel.
