West Brom have confirmed that Jonathan Leko has signed a new and improved contract with the club as they plan for next season.

The 19-year-old is highly thought of at the Hawthorns but is yet to really nail a place down in the Baggies' starting line-up.

However, with them dropping into the Championship for 2018/19, there would seem a good case to argue he might be in-line for more minutes in the new campaign.

West Brom will be one of the richer clubs in the second tier next season but that does not mean necessarily that they'll be able to keep hold of all their best players.

The likes of James Morrison, Nacer Chadli and James McClean could all move on and that might allow Leko a bigger opportunity to star.

His deal lasts until 2021 and by that point, we should have a good idea of the kind of player he's going to be.

The Verdict

Leko is a bright young player with plenty of talent and next season could be big for him.

As mentioned, the chance might present itself for him to play more next year and if he can grasp it Albion could have a very exciting player on their hands.
