Conversing on Twitter, West Brom striker Charlie Austin has revealed that Virgil van Dijk is the best player that he has played alongside in his career, with Niko Kranjcar also getting a special mention.
The attacker has had a good career at the top end of English football, in both the Premier League and the Championship.
Whilst injuries have sometimes frustrated, he has often shown himself to be a sharp-shooter for the likes of Southampton, QPR and now Albion.
Can you get full marks on this Albion quiz?
And, it’s at the former pair of clubs where he would have played with van Dijk and Kranjcar, with them evidently leaving an impact on the forward.
Vvd but Kranjcar was unreal

Austin has played with some very good footballers during his time but it’s perhaps no surprise to see van Dijk right at the top of his list.
He would have come up against the Dutchman in training at Southampton and will know all too well how hard it is to get the better of him.
The Liverpool man is now widely considered the best defender in the world and will be looking to help the Reds to a first Premier League title if and when the season is resumed.
