20 goal contributions was an outstanding start to his Tractor Boys career for Burns, but the pressure from the stands will be even greater this season, after many came to terms with 2021/22 being something of a transition season from the early stages of it.

The Verdict

Ipswich will be desperate to avoid a fifth straight season in the third tier, and even finishing outside the top two in League One could be seen as a disappointment, despite not achieving a play-off finish in any of the previous three seasons.

Burns is entering the peak years of his career, and will have ambitions of stepping up to the Championship with the Tractor Boys, their early fixtures are not easy, but should give an insight into how they are shaping up.

Town have AFC Wimbledon, Millwall and Southend United still to come in pre-season preparations with McKenna hoping his key players, like Burns, can come through unscathed.
