Reading have suffered a major injury blow in their battle against Championship survival, with both Nelson Oliveira and Yakou Meite suffering injuries in their game against West Brom.
The Portuguese striker Oliveira, who has only just returned from injury, pulled up with a hamstring problem just minutes into the game at the Madejski Stadium and was replaced by Danny Loader.
The Royals suffered another huge blow as manager Jose Gomes was forced to make a second substitution within the opening 15 minutes, as top scorer Meite suffered a muscle injury and was replaced by Garath McCleary.
Oliveira has been an important player for Reading since joining on loan from Norwich in January, scoring three goals in ten Championship appearances for the Royals.
Meanwhile, Ivorian striker Meite is the Royals’ top scorer this season and has scored five goals in his last five games for the Championship strugglers.
Both players are now doubts for the rest of the season, as Reading face two vital games against play-offs hopefuls Middlesbrough and Birmingham City in their battle for survival.
The injury news caused quite a reaction with Reading fans on social media, with many of them frustrated by the their side’s bad luck at such an important stage of the season.
