The Seagulls move level on points with Championship leaders Newcastle United after a convincing performance against mid-table Derby County on Friday night which resulted in a 3-0 victory for the promotion challengers.

Brighton & Hove Albion's first goal came inside five minutes when star man Anthony Knockaert slotted home from 20 yards past Rams' goalkeeper Scott Carson.

Then a dominant home display in the first-half was rewarded with a second goal to extend Chris Hughton's side's advantage as David Nugent gave away the ball in midfield and striker Sam Baldock hit the net just minutes prior to the interval.

Knockaert's man of the match performance was confirmed as the Frenchman's cross found forward Glenn Murray at the near post to make it three-nil for Brighton.

The Seagulls' fixture next weekend against Leeds United is their last of the season against top-half opposition, but this result means they are now level on points at the top with Newcastle who have a game in hand.
