Sunderland appear to have had a significant weight lifted from their shoulders so far this season. 

After disappointment and negativity on and off the pitch in recent years, everyone finally seems to be pulling in the right direction.

The Black Cats currently sit second in League One with 20 games played and look incredibly well set for an immediate return to the Championship, and a large amount of credit must go to the manager.

Jack Ross arrived in the summer as a relatively unknown quantity but, along with Stewart Donald, has revamped the club, reconnecting with their fans along the way.

Troublemakers, such as Papy Djilobodji, have finally been shipped out of the club and it appears to have given the club a new lease of life.

But some fans cannot help but yearn for the glory days of the late 90s, with Sky Sports presenter David Jones among them.

The presenter shared a video of a Kevin Phillips screamer scored against Chelsea in the 1999/2000 season, saying it was a 'little reminder of when Sunderland were good'.

But many fans felt this was harsh on their current team...
