Stoke City have confirmed the departure of defender Ryan Sweeney, as he leaves the club for Mansfield Town.

The Championship club confirmed the 21-year-old had left on a free transfer to move to the high-flying League Two club after a successful loan spell.

Sweeney has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal having played 31 times for the Stags before the deal being completed.

It was a move that was seemingly on the cards having never featured for the Potters, and with new manager Nathan Jones taking the helm, he didn’t feature in any future plans.

After the news of the departure, Stoke fans took to social media to react to the confirmation of Sweeney’s move to Mansfield Town after two years at his now former club.

With that said, here’s how the Potters’ supporters took the news on Twitter that the 21-year-old had left on a free transfer to join the promotion-chasing League Two outfit.
