Bolton Wanderers are enduring a frustrating time of late in the Championship.

Phil Parkinson’s men got off to a superb start this season, going unbeaten in their opening four league games winning three of them, however, this joy was short lived as Phil Parkinson’s side have won one game in their last eight matches.

The Trotters slipped to 16th in the table and fans will now be expecting a relegation-threatened season once again, after surviving by the skin of their teeth last term.

Parkinson and his side travel to Rotherham United this weekend in what will prove to be a crucial game, despite it being the early stages of the Championship season.

With the January transfer window drawing ever closer, Parkinson is bound to add to his squad in order to strengthen them in preparation for a potential relegation clash, therefore players may be departing in winter.

With that being said, here, we take a look at two Bolton players that could leave on loan in January

Marcus Wood arrived at Bolton from Manchester City's development squad in the summer, and has been putting in some impressive performances for the Trotters' reserves.

The defensive midfielder is facing stiff competition from Jason Lowe, Josh Vela, Luke Murphy, Gary O’Neil, Joe Williams and Joe Pritchard though, and a spell away on loan in the lower leagues will give him a chance to gain experience of playing first-team football and allow him to stake a claim for a spot in the future.

Bolton are looking to give the young goalkeeper a chance out on loan, but injuries have halted his progress recently.

If another opportunity arises in the New Year, you’d imagine that Turner will be on the move, after failing to make a single senior appearance for Bolton in his career thus far.
