The 2014/15 campaign was one of the most bizarre in Leeds United’s recent history, which was mainly down to the unpredictability of Massimo Cellino.

Leeds’ controversial former owner was embarking on his first season in full charge at Elland Road, with David Hockaday proving to be the first of three head-coach appointments over the course of the season.

Hockaday didn’t last long, with the ex-Forest Green Rovers boss replaced by Neil Redfearn, who took caretaker charge.

Redfearn would eventually finish the season as Leeds’ head-coach, but sandwiched between his caretaker spell and permanent appointment, Darko Milanic passed through Elland Road with little impact.

Milanic was appointed in September 2014, with the Slovenian lasting only six Championship fixtures.

Leeds suffered a defeat to Brentford in Milanic’s first game, before back-to-back draws against Reading and Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road.

A defeat at Rotherham and draw with Norwich followed, but by the time Leeds faced Wolves on October 25, Cellino’s patience was wearing thin.

Wolves came from behind to win 2-1 at Elland Road, with Cellino wielding his axe on Milanic almost instantly, reinstating Redfearn, who had overseen a successful caretaker spell.

Milanic, who lasted just 32 days at Elland Road, is the latest feature of our FLW Rewind.

At the time of his appointment it was already becoming clear that Cellino was going to be difficult to work under, however, like always, Leeds’ supporters were quick to get behind their head-coach.

These supporters were clearly wrong to back Cellino’s call…
