It looks as though Barnsley could be close to securing Markus Schopp's replacement as there has been another outgoing at Oakwell.

The Tykes' search for the Austrian's successor after his sacking almost two weeks ago is set to enter a third week but the fact that young coach Tonda Eckert's departure has been announced suggests that an appointment is imminent.

28-year-old Eckert arrived at Barnsley last summer when the club were still under the management of Gerhard Struber, having worked at both Red Bull Leipzig and Salzburg and also Bayern Munich.

He remained on the coaching staff when Struber left for New York Red Bulls and assisted Valerien Ismael in helping the club to a play-off finish last season in the Championship and along with Joseph Laumann stayed when the Frenchman moved on to West Brom.

Eckert won't be working under a third manager for Barnsley though as it has been confirmed that he has exited the Yorkshire side, although for now Laumann, who was caretaker manager for the Derby County victory and Hull City loss, remains.

It appears that whoever the new manager is will want his own coaching staff which has led to Eckert's departure but Barnsley fans are seemingly sad to see him go.
