Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Ben Marshall really made a name for himself during the 2017/18 season, although he did not do it with the title winners.

Instead, he shone whilst out on loan with Millwall for the second half of the season. After his arrival at the Den, one of the season's most remarkable runs of form, in any league, began.

Neil Harris' side went on a mammoth unbeaten run between the start of January and the end of March, a run which so nearly saw them win a place in the play-offs.

Marshall was a diamond during that run down the right-hand side of the Millwall midfield, with his industrious attitude fitting perfectly with Harris' vision.

After Wolves' promotion was confirmed it became obvious that Marshall would be on the move in the summer and it looked nearly certain that Millwall would be his destination.

But on June 30, a spanner was well and truly thrown in the works.

This is FLW Rewind, where we take a look back at a big decision made by a club, analyse the initial reaction and document what happened next.

Norwich City were the side to steal in and swipe the winger away from the Lions.

The Canaries agreed a £1.5million fee with Wolves and there he was, a Norwich player, so soon after nearly sending the south London club into the play-off places.

After seeing how good he was for their Championship rivals, the Carrow Road faithful were understandably delighted with the signing.

With each week that passes this season, however, it looks more and more like a huge mistake by the player.

Daniel Farke and Neil Harris are very different managers, and the German's slick passing style is a long stretch from the hard-running, all-or-nothing approach from Harris.

As a result, Marshall is yet to find a place in the German's system.

When he has played, it has been as a full-back. A role that he can play, but certainly does not thrive in, nor does it get the best out of him.

The reaction of these Norwich fans may, therefore, have been wildly presumptive.
