Plenty of Ipswich Town fans have taken to Twitter to react to their club's penalty shootout victory over Peterborough United in the second round of the EFL Trophy.

Having been held to a 1-1 draw in the FA Cup on Sunday by Coventry City, the Tractor Boys had a point to prove in their meeting with Posh at the Weston Homes Stadium.

However, it was the hosts who made the brighter start to proceedings as Ricky-Jade Jones and Serhat Tasdemir both went close to opening the scoring.

Dan Butler and Joe Ward then tested Ipswich goalkeeper Adam Przybek as Peterborough continued to dominate the clash.

Yet despite being on the back-foot, Ipswich took the lead in the 23rd minute as Idris El Mizouni scored his first senior goal.

Undeterred by this setback, Peterborough equalised nine minutes later as Jones slotted home from the edge of the area.

Whilst both sides created chances to win the game in the second period, the game was eventually resolved by a  penalty shoot-out.

Misses from Dembele and Frankie Kent allowed the Tractor Boys to book their place in the third round of the EFL Trophy as Barry Cotter netted the winning spot-kick.
