‘Well worth a punt’ – Plenty of Coventry City fans react to club’s rumoured interest in signing defender

Coventry City are rumoured to be interested in a deal to sign Nathan Baker ahead of the 2021/22 season according to Coventry Live.

Baker is set to become a free-agent in the near future, with Bristol City announcing that he won’t be retained ahead of the new league campaign.

His contract with the Robins is set to expire this summer, and Nigel Pearson’s side don’t see a future for the defender at Ashton Gate.

A move to Coventry City could tempt Baker though, with the Sky Blues retaining their status as a Championship club after some strong performances in the second half of this season.

Mark Robins’ side finished 16th in the second-tier standings this term, and will be keen to challenge for a top-half finish next season in the Championship.

Baker signed for Bristol City back in 2017, and went on to make 133 appearances in total for them, although he found regular game time hard to come by in this year’s campaign with the Robins.
