Garry Monk branded the Jack Grealish incident as “disgusting” in response to reiterate Birmingham City’s stance on the situation in yesterday’s Second City derby.

Aston Villa came out 1-0 winners, but the main talking point was a pitch-invader encroaching and punching Grealish in the back of the head, blindsiding him after the ball had gone out for a corner.

The incident was dealt with, and the 23-year-old scored the winner in the second half to have the last word in the game marred by the controversy.

Monk took to Twitter after the defeat to condemn the confrontation between the player and the interloper during the first half at St Andrew’s.

Birmingham released a statement after a defeat in regards to the situation, to which Monk replied to reiterate the club’s stance.

There was plenty of reaction after the game to Monk’s message to the Birmingham fans and the wider football community.
