Bristol Rovers made the journey to Tranmere Rovers last night and they came away with a point in what turned out to be a hard-fought encounter against the League One strugglers.

Ed Upson went close for the visitors in the first half when his free-kick was headed off the line by Tranmere defender George Ray.

The hosts grew into the game during the second half with James Vaughan going close before Andy Cook volleyed over the bar from Vaughan's cross into the area.

Sid Nelson made a good block to deny Rovers a chance in front of goal before Upson's effort smacked against the post and Tranmere cleared as the game remained without a goal.

Luke McCullogh fired over with just a few minutes left before Jonson Clarke-Harris saw an opportunity go begging as he diverted a close-range effort wide of the target.
