David Prutton believes that ambition is needed from the Leeds board.

In his weekly column for the Yorkshire Evening Post, Prutton pointed out the need for changes at the club in order to avoid repeating this season.

Andrea Radrizzani's first season as sole owner led to the club finishing in 13th after just missing out on the play-offs the season before. He is intending to sell 10% of his stake in order to bring in some new investors and provide an injection of cash for some summer spending.

This is what Prutton had to say about what is necessary for Leeds this summer in his column: "They need to make statements with the players they sign but also with the players they move on."

"You can’t gut a squad from top to bottom but I would expect the team to look very different when August comes."

"Repair the spine of the team and then go from there."

The Verdict

Prutton is right to point this out because they need to bring in some top players for this level in order to improve this side. They have tried to be careful and smart with the money spent, but that has backfired with a poor campaign and signings that have failed to have an impact.

The core of the team needs to be worked on and from that they can improve specific areas so that the team has the necessary depth and quality to produce results across an entire Championship season.
