Newport County have added to their ranks ahead of the new season, bringing in defender Lazar Stojsavljevic on a two-year deal, as announced on their club website.

The Exiles were left broken-hearted after losing in the play-off final to Tranmere, a last-gasp Connor Jennings goal condemning them to another season in League Two.

They also lost loan defender Regan Poole, a key part of their rise up the division, so capturing the former Millwall defender Stojsavljevic is a step in the right direction.

The 21-year-old began his career with Woking and, after impressing for the Cards, earned a move to the Den. He had a season with their Under 23 side, but was released at the end of the campaign.

Manager Michael Flynn was clearly delighted to get his man, telling the club's website; "Lazar has had a good grounding at Millwall where they are used to playing proper football. He's an aggressive defender, 6"3, left-footer who is going to bring a lot of good competition for places and balance to the squad."

Whilst his name might not roll off the tongue, Exiles supporters have been coming up with new ways to address their centre back. One suggests 'just calling him Dave', as you'll see in their replies below.
