With Michael McGovern's powers beginning to wain between the sticks and youngster Angus Gunn being deemed to be of Premier League quality by parent club Manchester City, Norwich City's hunt was on for a new shot-stopper this summer.

Finding a decent goalkeeper for a Championship can be a challenge but Norwich brought somebody in who would get into most of their second-tier rivals' sides.

This is FLW Rewind, where we take a look back at an important decision made by a club, analyse the initial reaction and document how things turned out.

The man to fill the void in the Canaries' net was former Newcastle United and Brighton man Tim Krul.

He had shown his class at Championship level with the Magpies before and was a top player for them in the Premier League for years as well.

The Dutchman's arrival was one that excited the East Anglian fans...

Krul was no sure thing, however.

Having just signed from Brighton on a free transfer after an incredibly quiet season in terms of first-team action he was far from in practice.

Chris Hughton had brought both him and Matt Ryan to the club and it was the Australian who proved the more popular choice, leaving Krul to appear in cup matches alone.

But he has proven this season that he still has it and has been a key member in the Canaries impressive opening 12 matches of the season.

The club currently sit in ninth place and just three points off the playoff spots and six off Leeds United who sit at the top of the table.

Four clean sheets in that time show that Krul most definitely has the quality to be a top Championship shot-stopper and to get him on a free makes it all the more impressive a signing.
