Sheffield United confirmed last night that they will rename their current South Stand in honour of club legend Tony Currie.

The news, confirmed on the Blades' official website, brings to light the achievements of a player who is lauded at Bramall Lane after making 313 appearances for the Blades in the late 60s and into the 1970s.

Currie has long been heralded by United fans as the greatest player to ever play for the club, and has some memorable moments to his name including the famous 'quality goal, by a quality player' line delivered by John Motson.

The news marks a stark contrast to the last time the club named a stand in honour of someone, with the Blades naming the their Bramall Lane end the Jessica Ennis stand to much debate only a few seasons ago.

Obviously with United taking such a step the Blades fans were always going to be out in force to have their say on the matter, and they did just that, with plenty letting their thoughts be known in response to the update on Twitter.

Of course, we at FLW were on hand as usual to see just exactly what was being said by Sheffield United fans in reaction to their latest update...
