Micky Mellon oversaw Tranmere's return to the Football League last season and his side have wasted little time in making themselves promotion challengers in League Two.

They're one of only two teams to beat leaders Lincoln City this season and they're currently seventh on 24 points.

They've suffered a couple of bad results recently, not least last night as they went down 3-1 against Forest Green Rovers. To lose to a promotion rival will damage their own ambitions, but there's lots of time left to correct the slide.

One issue they may want to resolve is a reliance on James Norwood. The striker has been in superb form, but his goals have carried them into the promotion race and if he stopped scoring, they might feel the pinch.

The chance to correct that reliance arrives in January in the form of a transfer window and here are two players we'd love to see move to Prenton Park.

Bettamer has recently told parent club Braintree he is looking for a move and refused to play for them. Whilst it might not sound like the attitude of a player you'd want, the Libyan is a scorer of some renown.

He's been bagging regularly for Braintree in the National League, ending on three in two games with a double against Salford City. Tranmere have seen first hand how effective National League strikers can be and a move for Mo Bettamer might be another shrewd one by Mellon.

Okenabirhie is currently at Shrewsbury having secured a summer move from Dagenham in the National League, but it appears League One is a step too far for the forward.

He recently gave Tranmere a masterclass in finishing, bagging a hat-trick against them in the EFL Trophy and with them having seen him first-hand last season, there's surely legs in a deal.

A loan switch would take away the risk in January, but might give Norwood some support on his apparent lone crusade at the top of the scoring charts.
