Derby County were disappointingly blown away in a home tie against Reading today and one defender came on Twitter to admit his part in that defeat.
Curtis Davies, who arrived in the summer, fronted up with fans on social media by admitting that his error was “the final nail in the coffin” on their way to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Reading.
The visitors had control of the game for the majority at Pride Park and ended up comfortable victors, courtesy of goals from Liam Moore, Sone Aluko, Roy Beerens and Mo Barrow.
Johnny Russell and Chris Martin grabbed goals for the Rams but the game was beyond them at that point as their eight match unbeaten streak came crashing to an end.
Davies owned up to making a mistake for Beerens’ goal.
His loose back pass ensured that the Royals went 3-0 up and finished the game as a contest.
Here are how Derby fans reacted to this.
Poor start killed us…poor individual error from me was the nail in the coffin. I’m a big boy will take it on the chin and go again #DCFC ????

We will all take it on the chin and move on. One swallow doesn't make a summer

No no no, not having that at all. We win as a team, we lose as one!

Bad day, not good enough all over the park and there were errors all over the park. Norwich and Leeds trips were brilliant, move on!

It was an awful choice, but you wasn’t to blame for the other 3 goals
