According to the Nottingham Post, Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo warned the rest of the Championship that his side 'will get better' after a 2-1 away win against Nottingham Forest took them into division's top two.

A double from Diego Jota carried Wolves into second place in the second tier but Santo said there is more to come from his impressive side.

"The team is getting better, we are growing and can get even better," Santo said. "We will take things game by game. But every player needs to keep working to get better. That is important."

Speaking more specifically about his tactical approach, the manager revealed, "the players enjoy themselves, but they also know they need to be very aggressive, we have to be consistent, we have to press, we have to react when we lose the ball.

"All these things are important. I was really pleased with the way we managed the game and controlled our opponent – because they are a good team, Nottingham Forest," Santo continued, clearly full of praise for his opposite number Mark Warburton.

Turning his attention to Jota, who struck the winning goal with just nine minutes remaining, Santo said,"Jota, like all the other players, is getting better and growing with every game. He can get better; he can improve still. Everyone can get better.

We want to progress as a team and as a squad, each game is another chance to grow. We learned from the last game, (a 3-3 home draw with Bristol City) there were no mistakes, we did not give very much away. This shows that we have character - this shows that we are growing," he concluded.

The Verdict:

It is hard to argue with Santo - this is a new group of players and a new manager who are obviously only going to improve as they get more familiar with each other.

They are already hugely impressive, especially in attack and it does not appear as if their front players have taken a great deal of time to get used to each other's movements.

If they can stick out the tough winter, the signs are ominous fro the rest of the league.
