It is probably fair to say that the 2020/21 campaign was a rather disappointing one for Huddersfield Town.

Despite signs of promise following the summer appointment of Carlos Corberan, a poor second half of the season, that saw some rather disappointing performances, means it wasn't until the final few weeks of the campaign that the club were safe from relegation to League One.

But having done that, the Terriers will now be hoping to push on from that in the coming season, after what is now two frustrating years since their return to the Championship.

Indeed, there are still some high quality players at Huddersfield, who have the potential to help them to do that, and as a result, could be worth a considerable amount were they to start attracting interest in the summer transfer window.

So with that in mind, we've taken a look at who we think are the ten most valuable players in Huddersfield's current squad, right here.

We start this list with a player who only returned to Huddersfield in the January transfer window, in the form of Duane Holmes.

Having made the move back to the Terriers from Derby, Holmes scored two goals and provided two assists in 19 league appearances for the club, and his willingness to compete has certainly made him an asset for Corberan's side in recent months.

With three years remaining on his contract, Holmes is also a player Huddersfield would be in a decent position to negotiate a significant fee for, although they are unlikely to want to do that any time soon, given how recently the midfielder moved back to the club.

Sarr joined Huddersfield as a free agent in the summer of 2020 following his departure from Charlton Athletic in the wake of the Addicks' relegation from the Championship.

Since his arrival at The John Smith's Stadium, Sarr has become a regular feature in the Terriers' backline, making 41 appearances for the club, and although he has made some errors, the 27-year-old has become a rather reliable feature in that position for Huddersfield.

The centre back has also made a useful contribution at the other end of the pitch with four goals, and with his contract expiring at the end of next season, the Terriers may well be keen to secure a longer term deal for Sarr in the not too distant future.

Another player who joined Huddersfield during last summer's transfer window who has become an important figure for the club, is Pipa.

Having made the move from Espanyol last September, the full-back has gone on to make 37 appearances in all competitions during his first season in England, scoring twice and providing four assists in that time, while seemingly becoming a popular figure with the club's fans in the process.

With two years remaining on his contract at the John Smith's Stadium, Huddersfield are also in a strong position with regards to 23-year-old's future, so there can be no doubting his value to the club going forward into the new season.

Another player who has the potential to play an important role for Huddersfield during the 2021/22 campaign, is Isaac Mbenza.

Admittedly, the Belgian's return of five goals and seven assists in the league last season may not have been the most prolific, but it does mean he was directly involved in more goals than any other Terriers player across the course of that season.

With that in mind, it is perhaps understandable that the Terriers triggered the option to extend the winger's contract by a further 12 months at the end of this season, and if he continues to have that sort of influence, the club may be keen to secure a longer term deal for the 25-year-old.

Another player who made an important contribution in front of goal for the Terriers last season, is Fraizer Campbell.

The striker's return of seven league goals was the club's second highest individual tally, while he also chipped in with three assists, meaning he is another that it is little surprise to see Huddersfield extend his deal by a further 12 months for the 2021/22 campaign.

Indeed, Campbell's experience in the top two levels of English football can certainly be important for the younger members of the squad coming through the ranks at the John Smith's, meaning his importance to the side should not be forgotten ahead of next season.

One player who has almost become something of an enigma for Huddersfield Town during his time with the Terriers, is Juninho Bacuna.

Having joined the club three years ago, Bacuna has made 107 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring 12 goals and providing 11 assists, and while he can be inconsistent, when he is on his game, he can cause plenty of problems for opposition defences at Championship level.

With that in mind, you can understand why he is another the club have triggered a 12-month extension for, particularly given the speculation Bacuna is capable of generating means he could fetch the club a rather decent fee at some point if he performs to his best.

One player who has become something of an icon for Huddersfield Town over the years, is Jonathan Hogg.

Since joining the club from Watford back in the summer of 2013, the 32-year-old has made 270 appearances in all competitions for the Terriers, and he remains an important part of the club's squad, thanks to both his commitment to the cause in the centre of the park, and the leadership he provides for his teammates.

The midfielder also put pen to paper on a new two-year deal contract - with the option of a further 12 months - earlier this year, effectively securing his future with the club until the summer of 2024, meaning he could have a big role to play for the Terriers for years to come.

Harry Toffolo joined Huddersfield from Lincoln City back in the 2020 January transfer window, with his former Imps manager Danny Cowley bringing him to the John Smith's Stadium.

That is a move that certainly seems to have paid off, with Toffolo becoming a regular and influential figure at left-back for the Terriers, scoring three goals and providing seven assists in 50 league appearances for the club.

The 25-year-old is a player whose performances suggest he has the ability to move even further up the pyramid in the future, meaning Huddersfield may need to secure a longer term contract for Toffolo, as he enters the final 12 months of his current deal with the Terriers this summer.

One player you feel does deserve some credit from an otherwise disappointing season for Huddersfield, is Josh Koroma.

Despite being restricted to just 20 league appearances across the course of the campaign, Koroma still managed to finish as the club's top scorer with eight goals - also chipping in with two assists - meaning you wonder if things could have been different had he been fit for the whole season.

Indeed, with goals having clearly been an issue for Huddersfield this season, keeping Koroma fit could be vital for next season, which will be the last of his current contract at the club, something it seems important that they address sooner rather than later.

One player who it seems has the potential to earn Huddersfield a rather significant transfer fee this summer, is Lewis O'Brien.

Despite what has been a rather frustrating season for the attacking midfielder, Premier League sides Newcastle and Crystal Palace, as well as Championship title winners Norwich and play-off hopefuls Brentford have all been credited with an interest in O'Brien, who is undoubtedly a dangerous player going forward.

As a result, that top-flight interest could spark something of a bidding war for O'Brien this summer, which could lead to Huddersfield receiving some welcome funds for the 22-year-old, which could be used for some useful reinvestment in the club on and off the pitch, enough to earn O'Brien top spot here.
