Coventry City will be hoping they can build on some strong performances towards the end of this year's league campaign, as they turn their attentions to the 2021/22 season.

The Sky Blues finished 16th in the Championship table under the management of Mark Robins, in what was their first season back in the second-tier, after winning promotion from League One.

They wrapped up this year's campaign in a positive manner, as they thrashed Millwall 6-1 on the final day of the Championship season.

It's set to be an interesting summer transfer window ahead for the Sky Blues, as they look to add to their squad to prepare for the new league campaign, which gets under way in August.

We take a look at our top-ten most valuable players in the current Coventry City squad based off of the 2020/21 season, but do you agree with these?

Find out which player is first up on the list at number ten, on the next page....

Fankaty Dabo is first up at number ten, with the versatile Coventry City full-back making 29 appearances for Mark Robins' side in all competitions.

He has been with the Sky Blues since 2019, having previously been on the books with the likes of Chelsea and Swindon Town earlier in his professional career.

The 25-year-old is contracted with the Championship side until 2023, and he'll be hoping he can become a regular in the starting XI heading into the 2021/22 season.

Dabo has shown glimpses of his quality, but has struggled for consistency across the season, which has been evident at times in this year's campaign.

Liam Kelly is in at number nine, with the Coventry City midfielder making 24 appearances in all competitions this term.

The 31-year-old was absent from the matchday squad over the festive period, but has played an important role for the Sky Blues over the years.

Kelly was out-of-contract at the end of this year's campaign, but has been offered a new deal by the club, which is almost certain to go down well with the club's supporters.

If he can stay free from injury, then his experience will be useful to have in the Coventry City team next season, as they look to build on their 16th-place finish in the Championship.

Tyler Walker is eighth on the list, with the Coventry City forward making a relatively strong start to life with the Sky Blues, after arriving from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2020.

Walker has gone on to score eight goals and be on hand to provide three assists from his 33 appearances in all competitions this term.

Walker made 20 league starts for Mark Robins' side, and will be hoping that he can secure a regular spot in the starting XI heading into the new league campaign, which gets under way in August.

At the age of 24, he's still got plenty of years ahead of him to reach his peak, and the Coventry City supporters will be hoping that his future is with them moving forwards.

Matty James is next up, with the on-loan Leicester City midfielder putting in some strong performances in the 2020/21 season.

The 29-year-old has chipped in with three goals and three assists from his 24 appearances in all competitions this term, as Coventry City finished 16th in the Championship table.

James still has one year remaining on his current contract with Leicester City, and it'll be interesting to see what the future holds for the midfielder heading into the summer transfer window.

He's certainly made a positive impact with the Sky Blues, and some supporters might be hoping that his loan move can be turned into a permanent one before the start of the new league campaign in August.

Matt Godden is in at number six, with the Coventry City forward making a positive impact for the Sky Blues this season.

The centre-forward made 24 appearances for Mark Robins' side this term, and scored six goals, whilst also being on hand to provide two assists in the 2020/21 campaign.

Godden has struggled with injuries at times this season, which has seen his minutes restricted in the first-team, which will be frustrating.

He's shown promising signs when he has been involved though, and if he can stay injury-free in next year's league campaign, then you can see his value increasing as the months progress.

Callum O'Hare is fifth on the list, with the Coventry City midfielder showing promising signs with Mark Robins' side.

The former Aston Villa man made 38 appearances in all competitions this season for the Sky Blues, and chipped in with three goals and eight assists.

At the age of 23, plenty will argue that he's still not in his peak, which makes for good reading for Coventry City, as they look to build for the future.

He's a player that Mark Robins should be looking to build his team around for future seasons, especially after impressing in this year's campaign in the Championship.

Coventry City defender Dominic Hyam is next up, with the former Reading youngster catching the eye with some strong performances for the Sky Blues this term.

Hyam has made 45 appearances in all competitions for Coventry this season, and seems to be going from strength to strength, which will be pleasing to see for the club's supporters.

The defender is another player that was heavily involved in the Sky Blues' promotion-winning season in the 2019/20 campaign.

At the age of 25, he's arguably still got his best years ahead of him, and it'll be interesting to see whether any clubs are to register their interest in landing his signature.

Gustavo Hamer is the first name in the top-three, with the midfielder being another player that has featured heavily for Mark Robins' side this season.

The midfielder has been with the club since 2020, having arrived from Dutch side PEZ Zwolle, and he's shown that he can perform to a high standard at this level.

Hamer's recent strong showings haven't gone unnoticed though, with the likes of Rangers, Norwich City and Brighton and Hove Albion being keen on a deal to sign Hamer heading into the summer transfer window.

It remains to be seen as to what the future holds for the 23-year-old though, but you would imagine that Mark Robins will be eager to keep him at the club for the foreseeable future.

McCallum has recently finished his second season with the Sky Blues, whilst on loan from Norwich City, who have recently won promotion into the Premier League.

The full-back made 41 appearances this season for Mark Robins' side, and was a regular in their team, establishing himself as the club's first-choice left-back once again.

He's shown that he's more than capable of making the step up to the Championship, after playing his part in the club's promotion-winning campaign in the 2019/20 season.

His future with Norwich City remains unclear at this moment in time, with it seeming unlikely that he'll be in their matchday squad next season in the Premier League.

Leo Ostigard is at number one on the list, with the Brighton and Hove Albion loanee catching the eye with a number of strong performances this term.

The defender made 40 appearances in all competitions for Coventry City this season, and settled into their defensive unit well this season.

It remains to be seen as to what the future holds for Ostigard, as he's set to return to Brighton and Hove Albion in the near future.

Mark Robins has already admitted that he'd be keen on signing the defender up for another season if that was a possibility ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
