Brentford are hoping that this could be their year.

Thomas Frank's side have been wonderful in the Championship over recent seasons and they can surely count themselves as being unfortunate for not securing automatic promotion in either of the last two season.

With the play-offs looming large it is now time for the Bees' top stars to step up.

Losing to Fulham in last year's play-off final was a massive blow, but Frank will be hopeful that the team that he's put together is capable of handling the challenge and securing promotion to the Premier League.

Brentford have some big stars this term, but who are the club's most valuable players?

We take a look at our top 10 most valuable players in the Brentford squad.

There's no doubt that the defender is a truly valuable asset for Thomas Frank.

After spending two years with Barnsley Ethan Pinnock completed a move to Brentford in 2019 where he quickly established himself as a key player for the side.

In those two season the 27-year-old has made 85 appearances and played a massive part in the improvement of the Bees' defensive line.

Pinnock is a real leader for Brentford and at 27 years of age it's clear that he's only just entering his prime years which certainly bodes well for the club.

He's a player who will be capable of leading the club's defence for many years to come, regardless of what league the club find themselves in next term.

A player who is a product of Brentford's famous B-team system.

Mads Bech Sorensen moved to the club back in the summer of 2017 and has since spent his time developing with the Bees.

Now 22, the central defender looks like someone who is very much capable of being the real deal for Thomas Frank's side.

Sorensen has made 39 appearances for Brentford this season in a campaign which has really seen the Denmark under-21 international come of age.

With his best years very much in front of him there's no doubt as to the potential value that he could have for Brentford.

Another player who looks set for a very bright future in the game.

Marcus Forss is a product of the West Brom youth set-up and completed a move to Brentford's B team back in 2017.

Since then the Finnish striker has developed significantly due to time in the development side, as well as spending time on loan with AFC Wimbledon.

Since making his debut the 21-year-old has made 59 appearances for the club, including 47 this season with the striker scoring seven in the process.

With a contract that runs until 2026, it's clear that Brentford have big plans for Forss as he continues to grow in influence at first team level.

The full-back is arguably one of the best in his position in the Championship.

After coming through the ranks with Walsall, Rico Henry moved to Brentford in 2016 where he started his journey towards the first team.

Since making his debut Henry has made over 120 appearances for the Bees and looked very impressive, hence why he's attracted such interest from the Premier League.

This term Henry has made 34 appearances as a regular part of Thomas Frank's side and so it's no surprise that he makes it as the 7th most valuable player in the Brentford squad.

The Danish midfielder is a product of the FC Nordsjælland youth set-up, before moving to Spanish club Celta.

After just a year in Spain Brentford made a move to sign Mathias Jensen, and he's certainly made a big impression since arriving at the club in 2019.

The 25-year-old has made 93 appearances for the club in two years after filling the deep-lying playmaker role that was vacated by Romaine Sawyers.

Jensen possesses wonderful quality on the ball and is a key part of how Thomas Frank's side move the ball around with ease - not to mention setting up opportunities for his teammates with his accurate passes into the final third.

The midfielder really makes Brentford tick and that's why his valued can't be underrated.

A player who is coming up for four years as a Brentford player.

Sergi Canos came through Barcelona's famous youth system, before spending time with both Liverpool and Norwich City on his way into senior football.

However it was with the Bees that he really found his feet.

The 24-year-old winger has made an impressive 205 appearances for Brentford - both in a previous loan spell and since moving permanently - meaning that he's one of the club's longest-serving players.

With an impressive 63 goal involvements in that time it's no surprise that he makes it into our list.

A player who just seems to be getting better and better.

Josh Dasilva started his career with Arsenal's youth set-up but completed a move to Brentford in 2018 where he really started his journey in the senior game.

Despite being just 22 years of age, he central midfielder has already managed over 100 appearances for Thomas Frank's side, including 35 this term as he establishes himself as a vital part of the club's plans.

There's no doubt that with his best days ahead of him, Dasilva will be playing in the Premier League before too long.

A player who looks set for a career at the highest level.

Bryan Mbeumo started his career in France with Troyes before completing a move to Brentford in the summer of 2019.

Despite arriving at the club as a teenager, the winger made an immediate impression after making 47 appearances in his first season, scoring 16 and creating eight.

This season the 21-year-old has turned his attention towards providing, with eight goals and 11 assists to his name,

Mbeumo will be playing in the top flight before long and he'll be hoping that his performances can help Brentford to go up this time around.

The goalkeeper is perhaps a surprise contender for our list.

David Raya started his youth career in Spain before moving to Blackburn Rovers in 2014, spending five years at Ewood Park.

After making over 100 appearances for the Lancashire side, Raya completed a move to Brentford in 2019 and immediately established himself as the club's first choice goalkeeper.

Raya has made 94 appearances for the club already, conceding just 82 in that time - an average of less than a goal per game.

With 33 clean sheets to his name, it seems that Raya is only going to get better and so it seems inevitable that he'll be between the sticks at the highest level before long.

Who else was really going to be at the top of our list?

Ivan Toney started his career with Northampton Town before heading to Newcastle United for what he assumed would be his big break.

With opportunities limited the striker moved to Peterborough United in 2018 where he scored an impressive 49 goals in 94 appearances.

Toney was handed an opportunity in the Championship last summer but few expected him to take the league by storm like he has, with the 25-year-old already scoring 31 goals and creating 10 more for his teammates.

Whatever happens with Brentford in the play-offs, Ivan Toney will almost certainly be in the Premier League next term and with that I'd imagine that his value will rocket as a result.
