Garry Monk has shared a message with Birmingham City fans following his departure from his role as manager of the club earlier this week.

The 40-year-old was sacked by Birmingham chiefs on Tuesday afternoon, despite guiding the Blues to a 17th-placed finish in the Championship last season following a nine-point deduction.

Monk was in charge of the club for just over 15 months after signing a three-and-a-half year deal in March 2018, but he has now seen this cut short following a statement released by the club confirming they had parted company with the former Leeds boss.

The former defender has now issued a statement on his Twitter account directed at Blues fans following the news of his departure.

In the lengthy statement, Monk paid tribute to the club's fans for supporting him since his arrival, while he also expressed his disappointment at being relieved of his duties so early into his contract.

Many Blues fans have been responding to the message by thanking Monk for his services to the club, while others took the opportunity to continue criticising the club over the decision.
