The meeting between Barnsley and Fulham in the Sky Bet Championship was the first encounter of the two sides in fifteen years, although Paul Heckingbottom's team went into today's game with just one point from their last four games.

Barnsley went ahead within four minutes when Marley Watkins got on the end of a Sam Morsy through ball but the Cottagers pegged the home side back when loanee Lucas Piazon but a shot into the top-right corner.

It only took moments later for the Oakwell club to go back in front. Sam Morsy got another assist when forward Winnall made it 2-1. One minute later and Fulham got another equaliser through Sone Aluko.

Scott Malone put the visitors ahead almost straight after the interval, when he shot from long range and beat the Tykes' goalkeeper. Fulham made sure of the three points as striker Chris Martin put away a header to make it 4-2 for the away team.

The west London club moved up to ninth in the table, three points off the Play-Offs. Whilst Barnsley are now eleventh after the defeat.

Here is how supporters of both teams reacted on Twitter to the result.

Whilst Barnsley fans remained slightly positive about the defeat to Fulham, here are some supporters of the Cottagers ecstatic after the full-time whistle.
