Football League World's Leeds United fan pundit James Allan has urged his club not to cash-in on Kemar Roofe following speculation linking him with a move away.

The Scottish Sun reported over the weekend that Rangers were ready to make a £5million swoop for the striker if they were lose Alfredo Morelos, but Allan believes that having now cashed in on two first-team figures, the Whites should be focusing on buying rather than selling.

"Having sold [Jack] Clarke and now [Pontus] Jansson, the club should have no further need to raise funds," the regular punter told Football League World.

"The Jansson move is tough to take but at the end of the day we have to respect that Bielsa is the man to trust.

"Selling Roofe would mean that the team would look even more unfamiliar to the starting eleven of last year and we need to maintain some consistency."

Last season saw the former Oxford United man net 14 times in 32 league appearances and 15 in 34 in all competitions in what was an injury hit campaign.

But of the other strikers at the club, Patrick Bamford came closest to his tally with nine in 22 matches and it is Roofe that Allan sees as the club's most dangerous weapon.

And with that in mind, he has implored Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta to reject all interest in the striker and try to sort out a new deal as soon as possible.

"Roofe was top scorer last year and only played just over half of the games so if he stays fit next season he’s capable of a 20 plus campaign," he said.

"Strikers that deliver these tallies now command fees of at least £10million. With his contract up next year, you can see why Rangers have put in a lower bid of £5million.

"But Leeds need to be keeping players like Roofe if we mean business next season.

"So currently the club's main priorities need to be tying Roofe and Phillips down to new deals, whilst replacing the ever so important Pontus Jansson."
