Football League World's Barnsley fan pundit Dan Sykes is confident that his side can pick-up all three points on Tuesday night when they travel to Birmingham City.

The Tykes were held to a 2-2 draw by Charlton Athletic on Saturday whilst the Blues were comfortably beaten by Nottingham Forest and Sykes is confident that history will remain on their side.

"Barnsley have a good record against Birmingham at St Andrew's," the regular punter told Football League World.

"We haven't lost there for 10 years.

"Given the big improvement at the weekend, I think we can build on that and hopefully pick up a first away win of the season."

Goals from Cauley Woodrow and Conor Chaplin either side of half-time gave Daniel Stendel's side a 2-1 lead, cancelling out Conor Gallagher's equaliser.

But an 89th minute penalty from Lyle Taylor snatched a point for the Addicks, leaving Barnsley with just the one win from three.

However, despite the disappointing end to proceedings, Sykes remains impressed with the performance of the team ahead of Tuesday night.

"I don't think we need to make any particular changes," he said.

"Unless Alex Mowatt is fit again and can come back in which would, unfortunately, probably see Conor Chaplin back on the bench.

"It would be nice to see Patrick Schmidt get onto the pitch and make his debut at some point in the match. All the players were probably rated at least a seven against Charlton so there isn't an obvious one to drop."

Pep Clotet's Birmingham side experienced an impressive opening two games against two promotion hopefuls, beating Brentford at Griffin Park and picking up a point against Bristol City.

However, their 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday has left them with an identical record to Barnsley's and Sykes is wary of how they may react to the loss.

"Birmingham have had a very similar start to the season as Barnsley and will probably be looking to avenge their humbling by Nottingham Forest," he said.

"Lukas Jutkiewicz will be the man to watch, but I think Diaby and Andersen will be able to keep him quiet.

"We need to get control of the midfield, but that won't be easy looking at the experience Birmingham have in that area."
