Football League World's Brentford fan pundit Rhys Byron says his side should not be looking to sell anybody during the January transfer with interest reportedly growing in Ollie Watkins.

According to the Sun, Sheffield United are ready to splash £15million on the Bees' frontman during the summer but after losing a couple of key men in the summer, Byron thinks personnel should be added first.

"We are still in need of some quality, particularly in the striker and midfield department as there was no straight replacement for Maupay and Sawyers," the regular punter told Football League World.

"Watkins has been playing up top to fill Maupay’s void and so far is doing well, but there is yet to be a clear replacement for Sawyers and what he gave the team with his control and understanding of the game as well as his creativity.

"So if anything we need to add to our squad not take away from it."

Last season saw Maupay net 25 Championship goals for the Bees before he was sold to Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer for a rumoured £16million.

Watkins has since been tasked with stepping into his place and has done well so far, netting seven of the club's nine goals over the opening ten matches of the season.

With one year remaining on his deal, Brentford decided to cash in on Sawyers too, letting him leave for Championship rivals West Bromwich Albion.

The summer saw the West Londonders bring in 11 new faces, including the likes of Pontus Jansson and David Raya, as they looked to bump themselves into the promotion race.
