After missing out on the play-offs under Martin O’Neill last season, Nottingham Forest have made a promising start to the season under Sabri Lamouchi.
The Reds are currently fifth in the Championship table, but they have suffered a bit of a dip in form in recent weeks and are without a win in their last three matches.
After they were held to a 1-1 draw by Middlesbrough last night, Forest missed the chance to move up to third in the table and if West Bromwich Albion can pick up a win tonight, they will be twelve points outside the automatic promotion places.
Forest dominated the game against Middlesbrough last night and created several scoring chances, but in the end they had to settle for a point – with Boro equalising nine minutes from time thanks to a penalty from Paddy McNair.
The result at the City Ground also means that Forest have the same number of points after 20 games as they did at this stage last season – when they ended up finishing ninth in the table, eight points outside the play-offs.
Following the result last night, plenty of Forest supporters took to social to discuss this and assess whether the team have made progress.
A Forest supporter posted in the Facebook group “NOTTINGHAM FOREST CREW NEWS“: “Progress Report 2019-20. Last season after 20 games = 34 Points. This season after 20 games = 34 Points. No progress!”
Plenty of Forest fans were quick to comment on the post and give their thoughts on the Reds’ start to the season, here is a look at some of the best responses.
Can you get 15 out of 15 on this Nottingham Forest quiz? Have a go now!
Craig Fairclough: We seem to draw too many games.
Rick Langford: And I’ve seen people saying that last season we would have lost that in so many games but forget we was in the same situation lol.
Franck Beneytou: Miracle to stay top 5.
Paul Dachtler: Felt like a loss last night… it’s the quality of the final ball all the time.
Mike Gall: We stalled then nosedived a bit around last Christmas. Need to stay top 6 this year.
Carl Brennan: What about potential though.. Best squad we’ve had for a long time.. We need patience here, we’re 5th in a tough league with a manager who’s learning the league and has done a good job imo. If we’re in and around the top 6 leading into the January window we’re doing well.
Tom Martin: Last season went wrong because of a dip in form though, followed by the walking disaster that is Martin O’Neill.
Dale Scooby Blacknell: Let’s get off their backs, yes not been the best recently and hopefully Sabri will now know what we need to bring in.
