A number of Nottingham Forest supporters have reacted to the performance of Brennan Johnson during Lincoln City’s 5-1 thrashing of Burton Albion, with many urging the club to recall him in January.

Johnson’s performance for Lincoln was a rare bright spark for Forest on a frustrating afternoon which saw them fail to score in a dull goalless draw against Birmingham City at the City Ground. The 19-year-old was once again in top form for the Imps as they pulled apart a struggling Burton side in a convincing fashion.

The attacker registered an impressive brace and was also heavily involved in Lincoln’s other promising attacking play providing one assist and averaging a 71% passing accuracy (Sofascore). That shows he is playing with the sort of quality and confidence that Forest’s own forward players are lacking at the moment which will leave Chris Hughton with a major decision to make in January.

Nottingham Forest will have to decide if they want to leave him at Lincoln where he is progressing very well, or do what they did last term with Tyler Walker and recall him and risk him sitting on the bench at the City Ground. Johnson, though, could add the sort of quality that is lacking in Hughton’s side at the moment.

Many Forest fans were suggesting Johnson’s latest display shows how much he is needed in their side at the moment and that they should now be seriously considering recalling him from his loan spell.
