After a bitterly disappointing campaign last time out, Nathan Jones would have undoubtedly been looking to overhaul his Stoke City squad over the course of the summer transfer window.

The Welshman left Luton Town to take over at the bet365 Stadium last season, with the Potters languishing towards the bottom end of the Sky Bet Championship table, despite spending big in the summer under Gary Rowett.

But after failing to steer the ship, the summer transfer window was the perfect time for Jones to get his feet properly under the table in Staffordshire - getting rid of the deadwood, and bringing in players that would match his footballing philosophy.

As expected, plenty of new faces arrived at the bet365, with Jones making a total of 11 signings over the course of the summer.

They even announced five new faces all at once, with Nick Powell, Adam Davies, Lee Gregory, Liam Lindsay and Jordan Cousins all completing their moves to Stoke.

The latter had established himself as a solid Championship midfielder during his time at QPR, so here, we take a look at how Cousins' time at Stoke has gone since...

Cousins arrived at the bet365 Stadium on a free transfer from QPR, after being released by the West London club upon the expiry of his contract at Loftus Road.

The 25-year-old made a total of 70 appearances for the R's, and also made over 130 appearances for fellow London outfit Charlton Athletic, before his move to West London in 2016.

A tenacious, energetic holding midfielder, Cousins seemed like the type of player Jones liked, and he possesses similar traits to those of Pelly Ruddock-Mpanzu - the Luton Town midfielder who flourished under Jones at Kenilworth Road.

Initially, fans were happy with this signing, although some had their reservations after he was let go by QPR...

But Cousins' move to Stoke has been nothing short of a disaster so far, with the midfielder making just two league starts and failing to impress thus far.

He started the first league game of the campaign, coincendtally against the R's, but has since fallen out of favour, making just one more league appearance and playing three times in the Carabao Cup.

He came under major criticism from Stoke fans in the opening game of the campaign, and has struggled to adapt to life in Staffordshire.

You do wonder where Cousins' next bit of game-time will come - Badou N'Diaye and Peter Etebo are much better players in the holding midfield position, and it's unlikely that they will be dropped anytime soon after a string of impressive performances.

Stoke will have hoped to have turned a corner after picking up their first win of the season against Swansea at the weekend, but whether Cousins will feature anytime soon is another question...
