After relegation from the Premier League to the Championship, West Bromwich Albion were looking to bounce back at the first time of asking, with a managerial appointment pending at the Hawthorns.

The Baggies, in reality, looked dead and buried in the top-flight around the end of March, however caretaker manager Darren Moore did a fantastic job at the helm of the club, taking them within just five points of safety in the Premier League table.

Here, we take a look at the initial reaction when the club hired the 44-year old on a permanent basis, and take a look at what has happened since...

Initially, this was a decision that raised eyebrows amongst the Baggies faithful. With the club looking to get back into the Premier League at the first time of asking, the pressure was on for a new manager to come in and hit the ground running, and hiring perhaps a more experienced boss could have been a better choice by the club.

But, after impressive during his spell as caretaker manager of the club, it would have been very unfair to have given the job to anyone else but Moore, having worked his magic in the latter stages of the Premier League season, picking up 11 points out of a possible 18.

The vast majority of fans shared their delight at this significant club decision.

What has happened in the last few days, however, has shook the EFL. Despite the club sitting firmly in the play-off spots, the club have recently parted company with Moore on the back of three league games without a win.

Defeats to promotion rivals Leeds United and Sheffield United, as well as being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Ipswich Town, was ultimately the final nail in Moore's coffin, with the club sitting nine points off the top two.

When you now take a look at the views of fans on Moore's sacking, you will see a sense of shock and disappointment, with the rookie manager doing a fantastic job in his first stint of management.
