Bradford City launched their new away kit last night, which has drawn plenty of supporters on to social media to pass comment.
A kit reveal is almost as important as a new signing these days and with news so easily accessible, fans are keen to digest as much as they can. When a player signs, it’s inevitable someone will ask whether there are ‘any more’ before they’ve finished the article.
That’s why the once rather underwhelming issue of a kit reveal has become a huge news story with some clubs. A shirt is now as much a fashion statement as it is the colour your team plays in. Clubs need to sell plenty to boost revenue and fans want their kit to be admired by supporters of other clubs.
Whereas some clubs have got it badly wrong this season, efforts at Forest Green and Stevenage catch the eye for the wrong reasons, Bradford City appear to have struck a chord with their fans. The simple white kit with a claret and amber centre stripe is a nod to their shirts of old, getting the ‘retro’ aspect absolutely spot on.
After a horrible eighteen months in which Bradford went from Championship hopefuls to League Two, they’re seemingly on the way back. Edin Rahic has gone and both their signings and the choice of manager have been extremely popular.
If these fans on Twitter are to be believed, the away kit is yet another example of the club connecting with their supporters in a strong way.
What a great advert, 3 of my old heroes & hopefully 3 new ones #bcafc
