Daniel Stendel's Barnsley side are currently sat in second place in the League One table, five points behind league-leaders Luton Town but just two ahead of Sunderland.

This weekend sees them travel to mid-table Southend United as they look to maintain their push for an immediate return to the second-tier.

But they will have to do so without star striker Kieffer Moore who was ruled out for the rest of the season on Thursday after being given medical advice.

The 26-year-old suffered a concussion against Gillingham at the start of February and will not play again during the current campaign.

The Tykes only signed Moore from Ipswich Town in January 2018 but has made an immediate impact, scoring 22 goals in 51 appearances.

The goalscoring burden is likely to now fall solely at the feet of Cauley Woodrow who has scored ten times in 19 appearances since joining in the summer.

It is safe to say that the news did not go down well with the Oakwell faithful...
